The Group 1 Coronation Stakes fell to an easy winner in owner/trainer Jim Bolger's Lush Lashes. The Galileo filly, who failed to act on the turns and undulations of Epsom when favourite but only fifth in the Oaks, showed she is on the upgrade with this scintillating success. She reversed 1000 Guineas form with both Infallible, who was second beaten over three lengths, and Spacious who was fourth. Spacious had been second to Natagora at Newmarket, Infallible fourth and Lush Lashes just sixth. Epsom Derby winning jockey Kevin Manning made his bid for home on Lush Lashes at the furlong marker and readily came clear of a high class field. Jim Bolger suggested after this one-mile race that his filly does stay the mile and a half Oaks trip and that the Irish Oaks on July 13 will be her next target. Another Irishman Dermot Weld was responsible for saddling the third home, Carribean Sunset. The latter is in for a spot of globetrotting as she will tackle Hollywood Park's American Oaks across the pond. Weld is tempted by the £1m prize. Coronation Stakes full result: 1.
